writer| professor| musician | critic at large

I am a freelance writer and critic at large.
My career began with a weekly column in my hometown newspaper while I was in high school. Today, I write about dance, culture, and performing arts for Broad Street Review, Philly's online hub for arts, culture, and commentary. I have reviewed performances by BalletX, Philadelphia Ballet (formerly Pennsylvania Ballet), PHILADANCO!, Martha Graham Dance Company, Paul Taylor Dance Company, Rennie Harris Puremovement, and more.
In addition, I am a contributor to Moviejawn, a writing collective dedicated to a love of film.
Some of my greatest hits include
-
"Still on the Rise" (review of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, BSR 2019)
-
"Labyrinth of Love" (review of Brian Sanders' JUNK, BSR 2019)
-
"Tiny Tim: King for a Day Celebrates the Virtues of the Authentic Self" (Moviejawn 2021)
-
"Video Boys" (an ode to VHS, Moviejawn 2018)
